The 7 Day Diet

The 7 Day Diet is a diet where each day of the week emphasizes on one food group. You can eat as much as you want (YES!) but you can only eat one type of food (ugh). Take a look for yourself:

Monday:
You can eat all the fruit and fruit juices you want--EXCEPT bananas (what?!).

Tuesday:
You can eat all the vegetables you want! Oh and vegetable soup. The only thing you can put on your vegetables is vinegar, mustard, or soy.

Wednesday:
This day is a just a combination of Monday and Tuesday. So, once again, only fruit and vegetables, but STAY AWAY FROM THE BANANAS!!! For some reason they're still off limits.

Thursday;
Yes, I can finally eat my bananas! Today you can eat 5 bananas and 5 whole glasses of milk. Some versions of this diet say 8 bananas and 4 glasses of milk, but either way, get your mouth prepared for a extremely bland day.

Friday:
You can eat 4 steaks of meat (3 ounces each of either chicken, beef, or fish) with an unlimited amount of green vegetables.

Saturday:
Same as Friday: You can eat 4 steaks of meat (3 ounces each of either chicken, beef, or fish) with an unlimited amount of green vegetables.

Sunday:
Same as Friday and Saturday: You can eat 4 steaks of meat (3 ounces each of either chicken, beef, or fish) with an unlimited amount of green vegetables.

So that's the 7 Day Diet for you! Pretty unbalanced week of eating in my opinion. First of all, the differences in calorie amount is completely unbalanced. On Monday, your body will be filled with sugar calories and your insulin level will be soaring. To match this level of insulin, your body is going to want to eat TONS of vegetables the next day. Too bad, because I don't think the mighty vegetables you'll be eating all of Tuesday will be able to live up to the challenge and meet that level of insulin, turning all the excess sugar calories in to fat. I'm not a professional nutritionist, but this first day doesn't seem very healthy. On the other hand, day two is very healthy. Although you are not consuming protein on these days (which is vital to a healthy diet) you are eating a large amount of vegetables which is so good for your body. The whole NO BANANAS rule seemed a little weird to me, considering that it's calorie amount is the same as an apple. Now that I look at the week's schedule though, I can only assume that they do this so you are not sick of bananas before Day 4! Speaking of Day 4, this to me sounds like the most boring day EVER for your taste buds. Milk and bananas are bulk food which will make you feel very full on the positive end. This day sounds like it's purpose is to fill your body with lots of calcium and potassium. Days 5,6, and 7 sounded perfect for me. I love, love, love meat and green vegetables. It would be weird eating chicken, beef, or fish for breakfast, but I guess I could get past that. I saw a pattern of following the food pyramid in this diet, but then I realized they conveniently left out the grain category. This is probably because the average American eats WAY to much bread and pasta! As a whole, I thought this diet was an interesting thing to try, but maybe not practical for every week in your life.

The Diet Channel talks about the potential amount of weight loss you could reach by following this diet. It also talks about the negative aspects of this diet and why you should not follow it.
There are ways to follow this diet and be healthy with it. Here's a list of 33 of the healthiest foods to eat and they are all FRUITS AND VEGETABLES!!!
